Fire causes $11K in damage to pizza restaurant in downtown Naperville

A fire caused roughly $11,000 in damage to a downtown Naperville pizza restaurant Wednesday night, authorities said.

Firefighters arrived at MOD Pizza on Washington Street just before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. An investigation revealed a fire in and around the enclosure of a pizza oven inside the restaurant, the Naperville fire department said in a news release.

The fire was under control within 15 minutes, and damage was contained to the oven and contents in the immediate area around it.

The cause of the fire was found to be “accidental in nature,” the release stated.

There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters.
