Schaumburg zoning board member nominated to succeed Dunham on village board
Schaumburg Mayor Tom Dailly has nominated the village’s electrical commission chairperson and zoning board of appeals member Michael LaRosa to fill the remaining term of recently retired senior trustee George Dunham.
“Mike is a longtime resident of Schaumburg who has demonstrated a commitment to remaining involved in the community by serving on appointed committees as well as his regular presence at village meetings and events,” Dailly said. “I believe his dedication to stay informed and his eagerness to play a larger role in shaping the future of Schaumburg makes him a welcome addition to our village board.”
The remaining five trustees are scheduled to vote on LaRosa’s appointment at Tuesday’s village board meeting.
“I consider it an honor to be selected by Mayor Dailly and the village board to become Schaumburg’s next village trustee,” LaRosa said. “I have enjoyed my time serving the community through various roles and functions, and I am excited to take on this new opportunity as a member of the village board to learn more about how I can further contribute to Schaumburg’s success.”
LaRosa’s term would last through April 2027.
Though Dailly didn’t make his nomination contingent on such a long-term commitment, he said he’d be pleased if LaRosa chooses to run in two years.
LaRosa has served on the electrical commission since 2012 and as its chair for the last four years. He’s also been on the zoning board since 2020 after earlier roles on the plan commission and Olde Schaumburg Centre commission.
Having lived in Schaumburg for 28 years, LaRosa has coached baseball and basketball with the Schaumburg Athletic Association and volunteered on the Schaumburg Firefighters Association Softball Tournament.
LaRosa works for Jamerson and Bauwens Electrical Contractors, Inc. as an electrical general foreman.
Dunham retired from the board on Dec. 31, having become the longest-serving trustee since his first election in 1991.
