Pay raise planned for Lake Barrington administrator

As her two-year employment anniversary approaches, Lake Barrington Village Administrator Sharon L. Peterson is in line for a pay raise.

The village board on Monday is scheduled to approve bumping Peterson’s base salary to $153,000 per year, up from $149,000. That’s a roughly 2.7% increase.

Peterson also will receive a $10,000 bonus, health insurance, paid vacation time and other perks that will bring her total estimated compensation to more than $192,000, documents indicate.

Peterson was hired in May 2023, succeeding Karen Dalton Lange.

Peterson previously served as West suburban Countryside’s assistant city administrator and deputy city clerk, as well in different administrative roles in Glencoe, La Grange and Hinsdale.

Peterson temporarily wore two hats at Lake Barrington village hall, serving also as clerk after Lisa C. Pena-Tlapa resigned in August 2023. Rebekah Harrington was hired as clerk and executive assistant in January 2024.

Peterson has a two-year employment contract. It’ll be reviewed after the winners of the April’s consolidated local election — including the lone candidate for village president, current Trustee Andy Burke — take office, she said.

Current President Kevin Richardson isn’t seeking reelection after 20 years in the post.

In a joint statement Friday, Richardson and Burke called Peterson “a remarkably skillful executive” who has been “a tremendous addition to the village staff.”

Monday’s village board meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Barrington village hall, 200 S. Hough St., because Lake Barrington’s hall is closed for construction. The meeting can be viewed live online at tinyurl.com/5c3f7v4u.

That session will be preceded by a 6 p.m. committee of the whole meeting at which trustees will discuss Peterson’s proposed pay raise and other business.
