Auditions for CLC Theatre’s Play On! Student Showcase Feb. 10-11

College of Lake County students ages 18 and older are invited to audition for the theater department’s Play On! Student Showcase — “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon” — at 6:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 10-11.

Auditions will take place in the main stage theater of the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts at the Grayslake Campus. Actors need only attend the Monday or Tuesday audition, not both. Actors should prepare a 90-second to two-minute memorized monologue from any comedic contemporary play and bring an acting resume, if they have one.

Callbacks will be from 6:30-10 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13. Rehearsals will begin the week of Feb. 24. Rehearsals are Monday to Thursday evenings until tech week, April 5-10, with possible weekend rehearsals, based on cast availability. Performances are April 12-19.

Play On! is an annual celebration of student creativity, talent and achievement as they showcase their abilities as actors, directors, stage managers, designers and technicians. In this student showcase, the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm are turned on their heads in a fast-paced, rollicking ride as several actors attempt to combine all 209 stories, including classics like “Snow White,” “Cinderella” and “Hansel and Gretel.” This wild, free-form comedy is full of audience participation and madcap fun.

“The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon” performances are 7:30 p.m., Saturday, April 12; 2 p.m., Sunday, April 13; and 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, April 17-19, on the JLC main stage. For information, contact Craig Rich at crich@clcillinois.edu
