A new Community Mental Health Center opens in Libertyville

Libertyville residents have a new resource to help with their mental health needs.

Clearbrook, an organization dedicated to assisting children and adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities and mental illness, recently held a grand opening for its third Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) location at 1659 Northwind Blvd.

The center provides services to clients 6 years and older through licensed clinicians who are trained in providing mental health diagnoses and counseling. It also will offer crisis intervention.

“We have a large payer mix within this line of service, which is different than some of our other lines of service,” Clearbrook CEO Jessica Smart said. “I think that just the ability to treat somebody that has a developmental and intellectual disability along with a mental illness, that definitely requires a different skill set from a clinician.”

Following the success of its other two CMHC locations in Crystal Lake and Rolling Meadows, Clearbrook aims to assist up to 50 clients at the Libertyville center.

The group plans to continue expanding in Lake County. In the coming months, Clearbrook will be preparing to open a community day service location in Libertyville to pair with the CMHC.

“Community integration is key for the individuals that we serve. They live and work in our communities and need access to services just like you and I would,” Smart said.
