Police: Carpentersville man cited after hitting pedestrian with semi-truck

A Carpentersville man was issued two citations after a crash in Batavia earlier this month, officials said.

The man, identified as Yoan Castillo, 37, was driving a semi-truck through the intersection of Kirk Road and Wilson Street the evening of Feb. 4 when he struck an unidentified pedestrian. The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital where they were stabilized, according to a Feb. 4 press release from the Batavia Police Department.

Castillo was later cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and not having valid registration, according to a Feb. 19 press release from the Batavia Police Department.
