Buffalo Grove selects construction manager for fire station reconstruction

Buffalo Grove trustees this week approved a contract with Addison-based Frederick Quinn Construction for the reconstruction of Fire Station 25 at 505 W. Dundee Road.

Fire Chief Larry Kane told the village board Tuesday Quinn was the low bidder among three applicants, which included Camosy Construction and Leopardo Construction.

Quinn’s bid was $713,728.55, while Camosy’s came in at $748,055.80 and Leopardo’s at $968,262.84.

The estimated construction cost of the project, including building costs, the construction manager and contingencies, is $9.3 million, village officials said. The total project cost, when architecture, fixtures and furnishings, technology and radios are included, is estimated at $10.5 million to $11 million.

Kane said Quinn impressed village staff by recommending efficiencies in the rebuilding process.

Once all construction documents have been finalized, a guaranteed maximum price will be negotiated with the construction management firm, Kane said.

The 50-year-old Station 25 is being demolished to make way for a new 16,000-square-foot facility. While construction takes place, personnel and equipment will be temporarily housed at the old public works facility at 51 Raupp Boulevard.
