Families with kids under 5 invited to Northbrook Park District’s Early Childhood Fair
Families with children ages 5 and under are invited to a free fair on March 2 to learn about the variety of early childhood programs offered by the Northbrook Park District, including sports, dance, arts, summer camp, preschool and more.
The Early Childhood Fun Fair at the Leisure Center will be staffed by program instructors and supervisors, who will be available to answer questions and discuss their specific classes and programs in depth.
“The Early Childhood Fun Fair is an opportunity to get to know our staff and our programs, including new ones that were added as recently as this year,” Northbrook Park District Recreation Supervisor Maria Warren said. “This free event will give parents an insight into our offerings, going beyond information contained in our seasonal program guide. This way, families can truly assess which programs are the best fit for them and their children.”
Early childhood programs starting in late March and early April include Little Chefs, Colorful Creations, Taekwondo, Tennis, Kindermusik, Emotion Detectives, Ice Skating, Storybook Drama, Tutu, Ballet and Tap, Free Form Dance, Spartan FC Soccer and more.
The park district offers two summer camps for ages 3-5, Camp Sunshine and World Explorers. Northbrook Golf Academy is open starting at age 4; Kaleidoscope Kids, Lil’ Artists, Little Champions, Hockey Training Academy and Skate and Dance are open starting at age 5. Altogether, there are 23 summer camps for children ages 3-14 from June to August. Many camps offer the option to attend for one week at a time.
Sunshine Preschool, designed for ages 3-5, ensures children gain educational and social skills while engaging in music, art, crafts, cooking, story time, science, sports, theater and field trips, all under the guidance of experienced teachers.
During the Early Childhood Fun Fair, rooms throughout the building will be set up to entertain children with activities. There will be arts and crafts, a tumbling obstacle course, an open dance room and musical activities. Kids will receive stickers and other goodies, and there will be a special giveaway for participating families along with a free prize drawing.
The Early Childhood Fun Fair takes place from 10 a.m. to noon on Sunday, March 2, at the Leisure Center, 3323 Walters Ave. in Northbrook. For more information, visit nbparks.org/events/early-childhood-fun-fair or call (847) 291-2993.
