Ambulance, vehicle crash in Gurnee, officials say
An ambulance transporting a patient got into a crash with another vehicle in Gurnee Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
The ambulance – operated by IMG Ambulance – was transporting a patient on Route 21 just after 3:15 P.M. when the crash happened, according to Gurnee Fire Department Battalion Chief Jim Gramer. The ambulance was also carrying two crew members. The other vehicle only had one occupant.
The fire department responded and took over transporting the patient from the IMG ambulance. One of the ambulance crew members was also taken to the hospital in unknown condition. No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
