Bio

Office sought: Batavia Unit District 101 board (Vote for 4)

City: Batavia

Age: 41

Occupation: Filmmaker

Previous offices held: N/A

Why are you running for this office? Is there a particular issue that motivates you?

Safety of our children, transparency in government.

What is the role of the school board in setting and monitoring the curriculum?

To use statistics and common sense in overseeing what our youth are exposed to. Listen to the concerns of parents, maintain the highest standards for test scores, discipline, and GPAs that properly reflect property taxes paid/resources available.

Are there curriculum issues within the district that you feel need particular attention from the board?

Overall test scores, abolishing sexually explicit material for minors

How do you view your role in confronting policy or curriculum controversies: provide leadership even if unpopular, give a voice to constituents — even ones with whom you disagree, or defer to state authorities?

I will be an independent voice to serve Batavia residents. My motto is “McNaul for all” with my focus on the well-being and educational opportunity of all children.

Describe your experience working in a group setting to determine policy. What is your style in such a setting to reach an agreement and manage school district policy? Explain how you think that will be effective in producing effective actions and decisions for your school board.

I have spent the last 15 years working as a film producer. I collaborate with union members, creatives, and vendors at every level. I appreciate feedback and working as a team for the greater goal. I will serve with no ego or agenda beyond what’s best for this community.

What is your assessment of the school district's diversity and equity efforts? Do you support the continuation or enhancement of such programs, of would you rather see them diminished. Please explain your reasoning.

I believe every child should have access to a great education, especially in Batavia 101 where 68% of property tax is spent on public education. Every child should feel safe in their school.

I also believe that parents should be their child’s moral compass. I don't believe in programs such as CRT. I was raised in public and private school systems that pushed that agenda.

What makes you the best candidate for the job?

My strong business background, respect for the American family and tax payer.

What’s one good idea you have to better your district that no one is talking about yet?

How are we best preparing the next generation of U.S. citizens?
