Chicago-area media outlets were invited on Monday, March 3, 2025 to see the extensive renovation work of the Carnegie Library building in Waukegan, which was built in 1903 and sat vacant and mostly unused since it closed in 1965. The $15 million project, spearheaded by Waukegan Historical Society and Waukegan Park District began in October 2022 and is set to open soon.

Cracks in the ice make patterns around a small island on Cary Lake in Rotary Park in Cary. Ice four inches thick is considered by most to be safe to walk on. This island is about 200 feet long. Rotary Park has more than three miles of walking trails and a pavilion with a fireplace. There is also a pier for fishing and kayak launching.
