Learn how bison shaped the Illinois prairie
Author and natural history educator Cindy Crosby will discuss how the tallgrass prairie, Illinois’ original garden, has been shaped by bison during a presentation at 7 p.m. April 1.
The event is part of the Wild Ones Lake to Prairie Chapter meeting at Fremont Public Library, 1170 N. Midlothian Road, Mundelein.
Bison is a keystone species that helped create habitat on the Great Plains for many different animals, including grassland birds. Over the last decade, the conservation community has contributed significantly to help bring back America’s national mammal.
