A new voice and experience

Wheaton’s North District council seat has two candidates to choose from on April 1. We are voting for Syed Hussain and recommend North District residents to vote for new experience and a unique insight for Wheaton these next four years.

Born in Chicago, Syed is a scientist and businessman with an MBA in project management and strategy. When his family chose Wheaton as their home 10 years ago, Syed and his wife committed to learning about Wheaton by volunteering and meeting fellow residents. They completed the 10-week Wheaton Citizens Police Academy and the eight-week Citizens Fire Academy immersive programs. He and his wife are both certified emergency volunteers through Milton Township’s CERT program.

Syed told me that he committed to these experiences to “gain a unique perspective” and see the real challenges in our community and those who serve it. His exceptional commitment to understanding Wheaton is one reason we are supporting Syed for our North District councilman. Syed currently serves on Wheaton’s Historic Commission, dedicated to awareness and appreciation of the city’s rich history. As a member and current chair of the Community Relations Commission, I (Erica) appreciate Syed’s commitment to engaging all our residents and show them our welcoming community.

Syed is a thoughtful leader, and his professional background is the expertise we need for Wheaton’s Strategic Plan update in 2025 for the next five years. He brings a creative perspective and problem-solving experience that differentiate him from our current council members and the North District as we welcome a new city manager. Syed shared his reasons for wanting to serve at a recent gathering of voters. He said there’s a “tapestry of talent…I’m one of many with experiences that are varied and broad.” Wheaton needs and deserves the richness of a new perspective. We encourage you to vote and to vote for Syed Hussain.
