Fire damages St. Charles home
No one was hurt in a fire in a St. Charles home Sunday night, authorities said Monday.
Firefighters responded to the report of a house fire on the 400 block of South 13th Avenue at about 6:41 p.m. Sunday. The first unit arrived at the home three minutes after dispatch, reporting an external fire that had extended to the structure, according to a press release.
The homeowner, who was home, had been alerted of the fire by a passerby. The resident was able to evacuate uninjured.
The fire was extinguished by crews within minutes of their arrival.
The damage to the property and contents is estimated at $45,000, the release stated. Authorities determined the cause of the fire to be unintentional.
