Bartlett woman charged in connection with Colorado identity theft complaint

A Bartlett woman was arrested Friday in connection to an identity theft complaint from a Colorado resident.

Angel M. Montgomery, 39, was charged with a Class 2 felony for identity theft and a Class 3 felony for forgery.

In November, the Bartlett Police Department received a report from the Colorado resident whose bank had informed her she was listed in collections for nonpayment on a lease in Bartlett. The collection agency identified her as a co-signer on a rental property on the 1200 block of Timberline Drive.

Following their investigation, Bartlett police alleged Montgomery had fraudulently posed as the Colorado resident. Over about four or five years, police believe Montgomery signed several documents in the Colorado resident’s name to maintain residency at the Bartlett property.

Montgomery was granted pretrial release, Her next court date is May 9 in Rolling Meadows.
