Local Rotary Clubs partner to support Habitat for Humanity project

Volunteer Service Day at Elgin ReStore scheduled for April 19

The Batavia Rotary Club, in partnership with the St. Charles Breakfast Rotary Club and the Elgin Breakfast Rotary Club, announces its joint participation in a Rotary District 6440 Collaborative Grant to support Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley’s affordable home-building projects.

Through this collaborative grant, the three Rotary clubs will contribute funds and hands-on volunteer support to aid in the construction of homes for families in St. Charles, Elgin, Carpentersville, and Crystal Lake.

These projects, which directly address the intersection of housing and health, reflect Rotary’s commitment to improving lives and strengthening communities.

The grant funds will be used to purchase critical building materials and cover essential services such as permitting, excavation, and electrical and plumbing work.

The homes under construction will benefit four local families who are actively participating in building their future residences alongside Habitat for Humanity staff and volunteers.

As part of the grant’s hands-on component, members of the participating Rotary clubs will engage in a variety of service activities — including helping with on-site construction, assembling welcome baskets, and writing notes of encouragement to new homeowners.

A special volunteer service day is scheduled for Friday, April 19, at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, 800 N. State St. in Elgin.

Rotarians and community members will gather to clean, organize, and stock shelves in support of the store’s operations. The ReStore helps fund Habitat’s mission while offering low-cost home improvement items to the public.

“This project exemplifies Rotary’s values of service and partnership,” said Barbara Roos of the Batavia Rotary Club. “We’re honored to work alongside Habitat for Humanity to create positive, lasting change for families right here in Northern Fox Valley.”

The project, which is expected to be completed by June 15, will be promoted through social media and local publications to raise awareness of both the need for affordable housing and the power of community collaboration.
