Dining out: 79-cent pork chop, restaurant weeks and more

So few things cost less than a dollar these days that I couldn’t even figure out how to type a ¢ symbol on my keyboard without a Google search. But look for it, I did, because Perry’s Steakhouse is offering its pork chop lunch to 300 social media followers in the suburbs on an upcoming Friday for 79¢. We’ve also got restaurant weeks in Lisle and Clarendon Hills, a sensory sensitive Sunday at Chuck E. Cheese and more.

Follow and save

Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille is hitting the wayback machine, celebrating its opening as a butcher shop in 1979 with a #FlashbackFriday event where the first 100 visitors at each of its three suburban locations will get a 79-cent Pork Chop Friday lunch.

The catch is, we don’t know which Friday.

The restaurant will announce the date via its social media channels on Facebook (/Perrysdining), X (@PerrysDining) and Instagram (@Perrys_Steakhouse). Then the first 100 people in line starting at 10:30 a.m. at its Oak Brook, Schaumburg and Vernon Hills restaurants will receive cards redeemable for the 79-cent pork chop lunch that day.

More restaurant weeks

It’s restaurant week time for two suburbs next week.

• Twenty-eight businesses will take part in Lisle Restaurant Week April 21-26. Each eatery — including El Gran Agave, Kindred Gastropub, Urban Wine + Kitchen, Raymes Steak & Fish House, Little Pops NY Pizzeria Trattoria Lisle and more — will offer a prix fixe menu, a special or a discount.

• Clarendon Hills will host its inaugural restaurant week April 23 through May 4. Eleven participating restaurants, including Il Mio and Country House, will offer special menus, promotions, drink specials and giveaways.

Big flavor, smaller package

Dave’s Hot Chicken is now offering its big flavors in smaller sandwiches.

The fast-growing chicken chain introduced Mini Sliders to its menu this week.

The Mini Sliders are takes on the signature slider, just smaller. Each order comes with four sliders with seven customizable spice levels (from No Spice to Reaper) and feature the same potato bun, kale slaw, pickle and Dave’s Sauce. It’s $7.49 for an à la carte order of four or $10.49 with fries.

Dave’s has suburban locations in Algonquin, Batavia and Naperville.

Where a kid can be a kid

In recognition of World Autism Month, Chuck E. Cheese will host a national Sensory Sensitive Sunday event from 9-11 a.m. Sunday, April 27.

The event, which the entertainment restaurant chain has been hosting since 2017, sees locations open two hours early with dimmed lighting and lower volumes for kids with sensory sensitivities.

Twenty percent of the sales from the event, up to $30,000, will go to Autism Speaks, a nonprofit autism awareness and research organization.

This is one of many fundraising events Chuck E. Cheese will host to benefit the group throughout April, including a roundup campaign all month where guests can add to their check or online order. The restaurant group also will donate 10% of profits from its online shop to the organization.

Chuck E. Cheese has suburban locations in Arlington Heights, Batavia, Crystal Lake, Darien, Gurnee, Naperville, Skokie, Streamwood and Villa Park.
