St. Mark’s Lutheran Church sets Holy Week schedule

St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in St. Charles has set its Holy Week worship schedule.

Worship begins with a Maundy Thursday service at 6:30 p.m. The service will focus on the last Passover meal with Jesus’ disciples, during which he demonstrates humility and commands them to love one another. This family-style service will include the Rite of Communion.

The following day, there will be Good Friday services at 1 and 6:30 p.m. The Tenebrae service will feature multiple readings that chronicle the events leading to Jesus’ crucifixion on the cross. The service focuses on a time of repentance, reflecting on Jesus’ personal sacrifice.

Easter Sunday begins with a sunrise service at 7:30 a.m. This traditional service features hymns accompanied by our choir and instrumental accompaniment. The service includes the Rite of Communion and conveys the powerful message of our salvation through Jesus’ resurrection and defeat of death. A second traditional service will follow at 9 a.m., maintaining a similar format.

The Easter Sunday praise service will be held at 11 a.m. This family-style contemporary service also will include the Rite of Communion.

A fellowship breakfast will be served between the 7:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. services.
