Elk Grove fire department earns high marks

The Elk Grove Village Fire Department has earned Accredited Agency status from the Commission on Fire Accreditation International for the second time, village officials announced.

The reaccreditation makes the department one of just 312 worldwide to hold the designation, which affirms its commitment to excellence and its ability to meet the high standards, officials said.

“By continuously evaluating our performance and adapting to the needs of our community, we ensure our services remain effective, efficient, and responsive,” Fire Chief Richard Mikel said in the announcement.

To maintain accreditation, the department conducted a thorough community risk assessment, updated its response protocols, and underwent a site visit and review by an external team of assessors, according to the village.
