A.R.F. celebrates 40 years of animal rescue with open house
The Animal Rescue Foundation is marking four decades of rescuing animals and helping them find safe, loving homes. To celebrate this milestone, A.R.F. will host a special 40th Anniversary Celebration & Open House on Sunday, June 1, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the facility, 531 W. Roosevelt Road in Wheaton.
The event is free and open to the public, and will offer a fun-filled day for families, animal lovers, and longtime supporters of A.R.F.
There will be dogs and cats available for adoption. Attendees can check out the free services including nail clippings, pet photos, and dog training consultations. There also will be games, prizes, and a raffle fundraiser. Enjoy music, giveaways, and activities for all ages
“This celebration honors everyone who’s helped make A.R.F. what it is today — our volunteers, adopters, donors, and the entire community. We look forward to reflecting on the past and looking ahead to the future of animal rescue,” said Ann Persenaire, executive director.
The Animal Rescue Foundation is a no-kill, all-volunteer, foster-based organization dedicated to rescuing and rehoming homeless dogs and cats. Founded in 1985 by a small group of volunteers who began transporting animals from downstate shelters to the Chicago area, A.R.F. has grown, saving over 1,000 animals each year.
The organization is especially committed to taking in animals that other rescue groups may not accept — including those with significant medical needs or advanced age. A.R.F. also collaborates with PetSmart to manage adoption centers and promote responsible pet ownership throughout the community.
