Glenbard East Theatre to bring wit and charm to Oscar Wilde’s ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’
Glenbard East High School theater department presents Oscar Wilde’s timeless comedy, “The Importance of Being Earnest,” on April 24-26.
Join us for an evening of wit, mistaken identities, and Victorian charm in this classic tale of love, deception, and the art of being truly earnest.
Set in Victorian England, “The Importance of Being Earnest” follows two young gentlemen, Jack and Algernon, who invent alter egos to escape their social obligations and pursue romance. But when their lies catch up to them, hilarity ensues in a battle of wits involving overbearing relatives, unexpected revelations, and cucumber sandwiches.
Wilde’s most famous play is a satirical masterpiece that continues to delight audiences more than a century after its debut.
The cast features Erik Vazquez as John “Jack” Worthing, Yahia Nabil as Algernon Moncrieff, Avery Corral as Lady Bracknell, and Allie Piña as Gwendolen Fairfax.
Also featured are Olive Turner as Cecily Cardew, Mckenna Schanks as Miss Prim, Maxx Weinsheim as the Rev. Canon Chasuble, Christian George as Merriman, and Jilly Gorvett as Lane.
The cast also features Devin Estrada, Giuliana Lorenzini, Leo Mundinger, Kat Theusch, and Anya Khan as members of the Moncrieff and Bracknell households.
The performances will be at 7 p.m. Thursday to Saturday, April 24-26 in Rider Hall at Glenbard East High School, 1014 S. Main St. in Lombard. The director is Josh Rubin, with technical direction by Andy Bero.

The production is led by student stage manager Charlotte Martin and assistant student stage manager Tiffany Huels. Raymond Siuta serves as student assistant director.
Student technical leadership includes: Alexander Ricardo (sound and projection), Leo Luchtman (lighting), Madison Johnwick and Madelyn Roecker (props), Tessa Welninski and Victoria Bustos (set), Melissa Jimenez (costumes), Stephanie Cao (makeup), and Owen Voke (publicity). Sydnee Davis manages the box office.
The backstage team includes talented students across multiple crews. The set crew are Amani Bautista, Giovanna Roman Panade, Hassan Nugud. Jero Valencia Castrillon, Jayne Ong, Kate Eckhart, Laurel Kurowski, Maria Tolkin, RJ Temple, Sarah King, and Desmond McClenahan. The sound crew includes Adira Garza and Emma Vechiola. The lighting crew includes Kate Eckhart, Gaby Hoyos, Gianna Mitchell, and Beatriz Zacatzi. The costume crew includes MJ Acuña, Erika Cruz, Sydnee Davis, Wheezy Cantòn Ahlgrim, Angel Millan, Jolienne Pinacate, Mila Piña, Lily Piepenbrink, Susanna Metzinger, and Elle Turner. The makeup crew includes Carli Johnson, Dayla Powell, Amya Daise, Lola Pratt, and Keira Alcantara. The props crew includes Taylor Kowallis, Ava Johnson, Sara Gayà-Kersul, Victoria Flis, and Lucy Chavez. The projection crew includes Toni D’Imperio and Elias Rose.
