Fine Line and Crisis Center partner for ‘What Were You Wearing?’ exhibit on sexual assault

The Fine Line Creative Arts Center in St. Charles is partnering once again with the Community Crisis Center in Elgin for an exhibition titled “What Were You Wearing?”

Last year, Fine Line Creative Arts Center collaborated with the Community Crisis Center to host a pop-up exhibition focusing on the connection between sexual assault and the clothing survivors wear.

The Crisis Center provides a safe haven for individuals experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, or crisis due to economic hardships. The staff at the center sought a venue to host this important exhibition, and both the Fine Line board and staff were honored to utilize the Kavanagh Gallery to raise awareness about this vital issue.

“What Were You Wearing?” will feature a collection of outfits based on descriptions of clothing worn by survivors of sexual assault. These garments, along with their accompanying stories, deliver a powerful message that anyone can be vulnerable to sexual assault.

The exhibition will be open on Friday, April 25, from 5 to 7 p.m., and on Saturday, April 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Fine Line Creative Arts Center, 37W570 Bolcum Road, just west of Randall Road in St. Charles.

Light refreshments will be served, and staff from the Community Crisis Center will be available to discuss their work, provide support, and answer any questions.

If you or someone you know is a victim of sexual assault and needs help, call the Community Crisis Center's 24/7 hotline at (847) 697-2380. Visit www.fineline.org.
