Remembering Route 66 at the Glen Ellyn History Center on May 31
The Glen Ellyn Historical Society welcomes historian and actress Leslie Goddard as she explores the history of Route 66, the iconic road that linked Chicago to Los Angeles from 1926 until its decommissioning in the mid-1980s.
The name brings to mind gas stations, mom-and-pop motels, quirky attractions and adventure on the open road.
In this nostalgia packed lecture, Goddard helps the audience learn why Route 66 is indelibly associated with the lore of the American road trip. What was Route 66 like at its pinnacle — what is it today?
The program will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at the Glen Ellyn History Center, 800 N. Main St. in Glen Ellyn. Admission is free for Glen Ellyn Historical Society members and kids or $10 for nonmembers. For information, call (630) 469-1867 and visit gehs.org.
