Wayfarer Theaters to host screening of ‘Eric Larue’ followed by Q&A with screenwriter Brett Neveu

Wayfarer Theaters has announced a special event screening of the new American drama film “Eric Larue,” followed by an exclusive question-and-answer session with the film’s screenwriter, Brett Neveu. The event will take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, at Wayfarer Theaters, 1850 Second St., Highland Park.

“Eric Larue” marks the directorial debut of acclaimed actor Michael Shannon and is based on Brett Neveu’s compelling 2002 play of the same name. Written in response to the Columbine High School massacre, the film delves into the emotional aftermath of a tragic school shooting, exploring themes of grief, faith and the complexities of human response to unimaginable loss.

Clay Stamper, managing director of Wayfarer Theaters, shared his thoughts on the film’s significance: “This film examines the emotional complexity of humans and how they respond to tragedy, exploring grief and faith in the aftermath of a tragic school shooting. As our community continues to search for healing and closure from the tragic events that took place on the Fourth of July, 2022, it is important to show this film and allow people to experience the raw emotional feelings associated with trying to pick up the pieces of life and move forward.”

We are honored to have Brett at the theater and to share his meaningful screenplay.”
