Wheaton vhurch hosts Labyrinth Walk event for World Labyrinth Day

On World Labyrinth Day, Saturday, May 3, people around the world will be walking labyrinths. You can participate at Gary United Methodist Church’s labyrinth, in the church courtyard at 224 N. Main St. in Wheaton, any time between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Labyrinth facilitator Cathy Smith will be available to answer questions. At the labyrinth, you’ll notice pavers that are a slightly different color than the rest of the courtyard. Those pavers form a spiral walking path.

Walking a labyrinth can be an inward and outward journey where you can recognize the presence of God and find unity and wholeness. In a labyrinth you are never lost. You are always on the path leading into or back out of the center. Unlike a maze which has numerous paths and is designed to confuse, a labyrinth helps you center yourself and find clarity and peace.

Gary United Methodist Church has celebrated deep roots in the community since 1853. The church has vibrant music, kids, youth and adult ministries, plus opportunities for local, national and global missions. The church offers worship at 9 and 11:11 a.m. Between services, there’s Sunday School for all ages, a coffee fellowship hour, plus the chapel is available for prayer and reflection.
