Give the people what they want
I have lived in the Buffalo Grove area since 1976. I saw Lake-Cook Road being put in and the development of the Town Center and many other things.
When the Town Center was put in the first time, they wanted high-end stores and restaurants. This was not what the people living in the town wanted. The center basically went belly up.
What people want in the area is KFC Chicken, Browns Chicken, Arby's, Burger King, Mcdonalds, Wendys and hot dog and burger restaurants that have reasonably priced food.
What they are putting in the new town Center is a Mexican restaurant with only Mexican food with no burgers or hot dogs. Another restaurant has asian food only. The third restaurant has only chicken. Across from the new town Center is a new restaurant that has $18 Cheeseburger without fries.
Without attracting reasonably priced normal fast-food restaurants, the new town Center is doomed. I do not know why the fast-food places do not want to open near Lake-Cook Road in Buffalo Grove.
Wheeling is loaded with those types of restaurants and the centers they developed are thriving. Maybe Buffalo Grove should talk to the managers of Wheeling to find out what they are doing wrong.
