Missing Aurora man’s body found in Fox River in Oswego

An Aurora man who was reported missing Sunday has been identified as the person found dead Monday in the Fox River in Oswego.

Lorenzo Gayosso Morales, 35, was last seen in an unincorporated part of Kendall County on Saturday and was reported as a missing person to the Aurora Police Department on Sunday, according to the Oswego Police Department.

An autopsy was conducted Tuesday morning by the Kendall County Coroner’s Office, but the cause of death remains unknown pending further investigation, officials said.

Oswego police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death in collaboration with Aurora police and the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office. At this time, it is unknown how Morales ended up in the river, police said.

The body was found about 5:24 p.m. Monday, when Oswego police were dispatched to the river after a caller reported seeing something unusual in the water.

Police deployed a drone and located what appeared to be a body lying in shallow water in the center of the river near an island, about 100 yards southwest of Washington Street bridge.

Morales’ body was recovered from the river by the Oswego Fire Protection District and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
