Driving instructor convicted of sex abuse, after skipping trial

A St. Charles driving school instructor was convicted last week, in absentia, of criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Paul Bocska, 58, of the 2000 block of Marlowe Boulevard, St. Charles, failed to appear for his trial, which started Monday. He also failed to appear for an April 17 status hearing.

The jury convicted Bocska Tuesday of 12 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and four counts of criminal sexual assault.

Bocska was accused of abusing the victim, a student of his at the DriveNow Driving School, in April and May of 2021.

He was free on $5,000 bond. An arrest warrant has been issued. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call St. Charles police or the Kane County state’s attorney’s office.

Bocska’s next court hearing is June 4 for posttrial motions and sentencing.
