Batavia VFW Post 1197 hosting Veterans Benefits Fair and Memorial Day ceremony in May
The Batavia Overseas Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1197 is hosting two events in May aimed at honoring veterans and providing essential resources.
Veterans and their families are invited to a Veterans Benefits Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, May 2, at the post home, 645 S. River St. in Batavia. With over 50 vendors, including representatives from the Veterans Administration, Veterans Assistance Commission, Social Security Administration, VA home loans, Nicor, and various veteran non-profit organizations and veteran-owned businesses, this fair will serve as a one-stop-shop for all veteran benefits.
Attendees will have the opportunity to speak directly with experts, gather information, and ask questions about various programs and services available to them.
On Memorial Day, VFW Post 1197 invites the community to join a solemn ceremony that honors the sacrifices of our fallen heroes. It will be at 11 a.m. at the post home.
The program will include performances by the Batavia Community Band, a wreath-laying ceremony, a tribute to POW/MIA soldiers, the playing of taps, and a rifle salute.
This event provides a meaningful way for the community to come together in remembrance and appreciation of those who served our country.
