Mundelein man faces kidnapping, battery charges involving teen reported missing
A Mundelein man faces kidnapping and other charges involving a 15-year-old girl who had been reported missing by her parents.
Noe A. Camacho-Leon, 30, is being held on one count each of kidnapping, aggravated battery and aggravated unlawful restraint, all felonies, authorities said.
He was charged after Mundelein police located the teen on June 11, in an apartment on the 500 block of McKinley Avenue, where Camacho was renting a room, officials said.
The teen had been reported missing by her parents in Waukegan on June 2.
According to the Lake County state’s attorney’s office, Camacho-Leon met the girl online and arranged for a car service to bring her to his apartment. While there, he refused to allow the girl to leave, made threats and physically abused her, prosecutors allege.
Police said location data obtained from the teen’s cellphone led to the address in Mundelein. Both were there when police arrived about 7:45 p.m. June 11, officials said.
Camacho-Leon was in an intimate physical relationship with the teen and used force during the encounter, police said. Based on the allegations and circumstances, Camacho-Leon was detained for questioning, according to Mundelein police.
The teen was treated as a precautionary measure and a sexual assault exam performed, police said. She was interviewed at Lake County Children’s Advocacy Center and released to her parents.
Camacho-Leon was ordered held in the Lake County jail while awaiting trial. He’s scheduled to appear in court July 2.
An investigation is ongoing, according the state’s attorney’s office.
