Authorities identify woman found dead in Aurora outlet mall retention pond

Authorities have identified the woman whose body was found Monday in a retention pond at Chicago Premium Outlets in Aurora.

The Kane County coroner’s office said they used dental and fingerprint records to positively identify 32-year-old Shafia Murad of Aurora.

Police were searching for Murad Monday evening, who had been reported missing May 28.

The manner of Murad’s death remains under investigation. An autopsy conducted Wednesday determined that the preliminary cause of death was drowning, according to the coroner’s office.
