Vote yes to ECC and improve local economy

I encourage the voters to say yes to Elgin community College's bond request on the April 7 ballot. Your yes vote will bring 4,000 new jobs to local workers. Your yes vote will double the classroom space for health careers training and double the number of students trained for jobs in public safety.

Sixty percent of the nation's new registered nurses receive training through community colleges, 80 percent of police, 86 percent of firefighters and 84 percent of paramedics receive their credentials at community colleges. This is good for the community; this is good for you and your family.

For every $1 invested in Elgin Community College, the local economy gets $3 back. ECC would employ local businesses and workers in each phase of campus improvements, resulting in an infusion of millions of dollars into our local economy.

Vote yes for the referendum to meet the demand for qualified applicants in fields like health care and public safety. Elgin Community College provides higher education at an affordable price. We need this education for jobs today - and a better tomorrow.
