Briefs: AAR reports record sales and earnings

WOOD DALE -- AAR reported fiscal 2008 first quarter net sales of $306 million and income from continuing operations of $15.3 million. Sales grew 27 percent from $240.2 million last year. AAR achieved double-digit sales growth in all four of the company's operating segments. Sales to commercial customers increased 26 percent and sales to defense customers grew 30 percent, year-over-year. The 26 percent increase in sales to commercial customers was driven by strength in supply chain programs and aftermarket parts sales, increased heavy maintenance activity, including the acquisition of Reebaire, and continued momentum in the aircraft sales and leasing business.

CableNet selects Tellabs new system

NAPERVILLE -- CableNet, a division of Grupo TVCable, chose Tellabs to create and deploy its new MetroEthernet network. The Tellabs 8600 managed edge system and the Tellabs 8000 network manager, part of the Tellabs AssuredEthernet solution, enable CableNet to guarantee quality of service for its customers.
