Why switch bus locations?

The current owners of the transportation department for Community Unit District 300, Durham, is moving all the large school buses to the Bunker Hill compound from the Dundee compound and moving all of the smaller buses to the Dundee compound. Seeing that the school district pays for the cost of fuel and owns the buses, I feel these changes are not cost efficient or environmentally responsible.

With the majority of the schools within the district on the east side, moving the larger buses will create many issues. There will be more money spent to fuel them. Every time a route is completed the large buses will have to be brought back to the Bunker Hill compound. If a driver has a route on the far east side, it would make more sense for that driver to take the bus to the Dundee compound to save money on fuel and time.

The mileage on the buses will increase, resulting in extra wear and tear on the buses. With the large buses having to travel from the Bunker Hill compound to the east side, if there are any crashes or construction on Route 62, Randall Road or Huntley Road, buses would be late getting to east side schools.

I was under the assumption that privatizing the transportation department was done to save money, not force everyone to pay more.
