Take Palin at her word

I find it remarkable that most of the pundits in D.C. just can't understand why Palin retired. Perhaps they should just listen to what she says rather than trying to uncover the typical hidden agenda so common in our capital.

She has a debt of $500,000 in attorney fees brought about by frivolous lawsuits that relentlessly attacked her ethics. All allegations have proven to be false. Her only crime has been to accept an invitation from one of the class guys in the Senate to run for vice president. When has that become a crime rather than a very patriotic thing to do?

Now she is faced with this huge debt to pay and she is not a wealthy women like most of the Brahmins of Washington. Some politicians would look at other ways to pay the debt like granting favors or hosting fundraisers or developing a legal-defense fund. Anything goes when one lusts for power. Instead she gives it up and plans to earn the money the old fashioned way.

George Washington showed us the way when he gave up power after his second term. No one in this monarchical period could believe it. Sometimes it's necessary to give up power in order to achieve power.

Stay tuned.
