Blood drive is today in Palatine hall

The Palatine Board of Health is hosting a Community Blood Drive from 1-7 p.m. today at the Palatine Village Hall, 200 E. Wood. St. The blood drive will be conducted by LifeSource. Appointments are encouraged but walk-ins are welcome.

Concert is Thursday in Hoffman Estates

Chicago Groove Collective will perform a free concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, on the Village Green off Route 72 in the Prairie Stone Business Park in Hoffman Estates as part of the "Summer Sounds on the Green" concert series.

The band plays rock, Motown, R&B, funk, contemporary and jazz.

During the concert, places of worship will be honored.

Admission is free. People can picnic or buy food from Garibaldi's.

Library movie night is coming Friday

Family Fun Movie Night will be held from 7-10:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 14, in Schaumburg's Town Square at Schaumburg and Roselle roads, sponsored by the Schaumburg Township District Library. After DJ music and games from 7-8:30 p.m., "Hotel for Dogs" will be shown. The event is free.
