New citizen fete another success

This year the City of Elgin and the community recognized 38 new U.S. citizens at the June 10 Elgin City Council Meeting. This was the 11th year of recognition for Elgin area new citizens, and the New U.S. Citizens Recognition Committee would like to thank Elgin Mayor Ed Schock and the city council for their continued support. The program was further enhanced by the presence of Sen. Michael Noland and Rep. Keith Farnham who held a reception afterward. We also want to thank Elgin Community College, Centro de Informacion, the League of Women Voters and the Elgin Choral Union for sharing their gifts.

Those who persevered the difficult process of naturalization deserve our special consideration and recognition.
