Geneva restaurants create joint Web site

Visitors and residents alike can plan meals or parties by going to a new Web site that features about 100 restaurants in Geneva.

GenevaILRestaurants.com launched last week and was developed by Gil Rangel, principal of Rangel Designs, a firm that designs logos, menus and advertising. Rangel united the local restaurant community to help promote their offerings.

Next, Rangel plans to launch a Web site for Geneva retail shops, possibly in the next two months.

Later this year, he hopes to unveil similar restaurant and shopping Web sites for St. Charles, Schaumburg and Naperville.

"This allows the restaurants to control their destiny and to control their marketing," said Rangel, who has been working in Geneva for about six years.

The restaurant Web site now offers pages for about 100 Geneva-based restaurants, along with their daily or weekly menus, hours of operation and other details.

"It's like a cool community bill board, of sorts," he said.

Upcoming features will include online reservations and reviews and print-out coupons.

The new restaurant site is not affiliated with the city of Geneva or the Geneva Chamber of Commerce. It is paid for by the restaurants themselves, Rangel said.

"Advertising is so expensive and now they can pool their resources together and get more opportunities," Rangel said.

A mobile truck had one 32-inch black display, one 32-inch white display and one 37-inch black display that runs high-definition content.
