Briefs: Rohm and Haas get safety honor

ELGIN -- The board of directors for Rohm and Haas, a manufacturer of specialty chemicals used in construction and electronics, recently awarded its Elgin branch the company's highest safety honor. The branch, located at 2531 Technology Drive, received the board's Award for Environmental, Health and Safety Excellence for 2007.

Kraft completes Danone deal

NORTHFIELD -- Kraft Foods Inc. announced Friday it has completed its acquisition of Groupe Danone's global biscuit business. The addition of Danone's biscuit business will transform Kraft's international business into a stronger contributor to revenue growth, according to the company. Biscuits will also become the company's largest global business, representing about 20 percent of total Kraft revenues, according to the company.
