NIU seeks memorial input
Northern Illinois University officials are moving forward with plans to build a permanent memorial to the victims of the Valentine's Day shooting that killed five and wounded 15 students.
The university is soliciting input from NIU students and their parents to help decide exactly what the memorial will include. Ideas can be emailed to memorial@niu.edu. "We will review all submitted suggestions, examining their merits and looking for common themes that emerge," said Michael Malone, vice president for university advancement, in a statement.
"In addition to looking at different types of suggested memorials, we also will examine the merits of potential sites on campus for such a memorial space."
