Police questioning person in Prospect Heights death

Prospect Heights police have served a search warrant on a house and are questioning at least one person in connection with the death Sunday of Gina Dominick, 20, of Mount Prospect, a police official said Wednesday.

Police served a search warrant at 103 Prospect Court, collecting items that are still being analyzed, said Deputy Police Chief Eric Lundt.

Police still are labeling their inquiry a death investigation and haven't said how Dominick died. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office has said that the cause of death is open pending the police investigation.

Lundt said police hoped to be able to say more about her death soon, but still are reviewing evidence at this point.

The home at 103 Prospect Court is about two blocks from where Dominick's body was found Sunday morning in a car parked outside the Prospect Heights Library.

The owner of the house, according to county tax records, was reached by telephone but declined to comment.

Dominick worked at various pizza places as a manager and waitress since graduating and also volunteered at an animal shelter on the weekends, according to her friends.

She had completed a year at Harper College in Palatine and intended to go back this fall, a friend, Jessica Schatz said.
