DuPage County set to rebuild Geneva Road bridge

The DuPage County Department of Transportation will replace the Geneva Road bridge over the West Branch of the DuPage River between the Timber Ridge and Winfield Mounds forest preserves.

The new bridge will require the construction of a basin for stormwater storage within Timber Ridge, according to the forest preserve district.

Several trees, mostly nonnative invasive trees, will need to be removed to construct the stormwater basin. Work is slated to begin on Monday.

Plans also call for a shared-use path and drainage improvements. The existing four-lane bridge will be replaced with a steel-beam structure with a concrete deck.
