Saints' Bunkley restructures, Sanford agrees to 1-year deal

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The agents for Saints defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley and safety Jamarca Sanford say the veterans have reached deals to return to New Orleans next season.

Bunkley's agent, Williams Johnson, says his client agreed to lower his base salary by nearly $3 million from the $4.4 million he would have been due in 2015, giving the Saints more flexibility under the NFL's salary cap. A Saints starter for two seasons, Bunkley agreed to a similar deal in 2014, with some salary being converted to a bonus spread over multiple seasons.

Agent Drew Rosenhaus says Sanford, who would have become a free agent, has agreed to a one-year deal and is pleased about continuing his career near his native Mississippi.

Sanford played in six games with New Orleans last season.
