Belle Aire Elementary PTA awards alumni scholarship
The Belle Aire Elementary School PTA announced that Downers Grove North High School senior Stephanie Polihronidis is the recipient of the 2024 Alumni Scholarship. She will attend University of Wisconsin-Madison in the fall, majoring in chemistry.
Stephanie attended Belle Aire for all seven years of her elementary education. Her interest in STEM was nurtured by her fourth-grade teacher Brad Linko and coding summer camps at Downers Grove North.
After her AP Chemistry course, she completed an internship at Flavorchem Corporation in a Research & Development lab optimizing product flavors.
“I look back at my years at Belle Aire fondly and appreciate the foundation my experiences gave me as a springboard into high school STEM classes and my future college career,” Stephanie said.
Stephanie’s accolades include: High Honor Roll all four years; National Honor Society member; Senior Recognition Award from Downers Grove North math department; Positively North Stars Leader; ELITE Leader; PE Leader; competing at the regional, sectional and state levels with the Downers Grove North Athenas Dance Team; and head coach with All Star Sports.
Belle Aire Principal Brent Borchelt stated, "The Belle Aire staff and I couldn’t be more proud of Stephanie. This is a testament to her hard work, dedication and achievements and a recognition of the many steps she’s taken to prepare for a bright future. We can’t wait to see what she does next. About the Belle Aire Elementary PTA Alumni Scholarship
The Belle Aire Elementary PTA Alumni Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship awarded annually to one Downers Grove North High School senior who attended Belle Aire Elementary School for at least three years.
