Vernon Township to host inaugural VT Palooza

Join Vernon Township for its inaugural VT Palooza from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, at William E. Peterson Park, 16652 N. Buffalo Grove Road, in Vernon Hills. This free event will have something for the whole family, including games, live music, food trucks and more. The event is designed to bring camaraderie to the community, ensure accessibility to all residents regardless of their financial situation, and stimulate local business by attracting visitors to the area.

Participants of all ages will enjoy lawn games such as cornhole, lawn Jenga, Connect Four and Yahtzee. Three inflatables will be set up at VT Palooza: two bounce houses — one with a “gym” theme containing basketball nets in the middle — and a whale-themed obstacle course. Other games include Pop-a-Shot Basketball and carnival games such as “Gone Bananas,” “Pin the Tail on the Donkey,” and “Fun House.” All carnival games will use safe Velcro beanbags.

Food trucks will offer a variety of delicious options for purchase during the event. Prairie House Tavern’s food truck will provide all-American favorites, including pizzas, burgers, sandwiches and more. Cook’s Ice Cream will provide an assortment of hand-scooped ice cream flavors, available in a bowl or cone.

“I am excited to begin this annual tradition of VT Palooza at Vernon Township,” said Vernon Township Supervisor Tim Kobler. “I hope to see everyone as we come together to kick off the summer season.”

Music at the event will be provided by a DJ from 4Sure Entertainment, playing a mix of country and pop hits from the 80s through today. All music will be the clean and edited versions of your favorite tracks, catering to all musical preferences.
