Anderson Humane to host ‘Summer Solstice Concert’ June 22
Imagine the longest day of sunlight surrounded by nature in an intimate setting with the sounds of renowned harpist Laura Fako Utley.
Anderson Humane is hosting a “Summer Solstice Concert” on Saturday, June 22, at The Wilds at Red Oak in North Aurora.
It will be 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the new event space, set in the woodland area of the Red Oak Nature Center property, along the scenic Fox River Trail.
Since ancient times, summer solstice traditions have included gathering with family and friends to celebrate the return of sunlight, life, fertility, and the potential for a good harvest.
Today, people worldwide still celebrate summer's arrival, or midsummer, with outdoor feasts and festivities, including singing, dancing, musical performances or concerts, bonfires, and enjoying food and drinks.
They are inviting you to celebrate Summer Solstice Anderson Humane style.
The evening will feature the music of the string trio: harpist Laura Fako Utley, cellist David Bednarek and violinist Lisa Fako.
Attendees will enjoy appetizers, an open bar, and s'mores. Wildlife specialists will be your guide in bird watching and indigenous animals. There also will be a special appearance by Anderson Humane’s Ambassador Animal, Isabelle, the Virginia opossum.
Limited tickets are available. Individual tickets are $75. For tickets, go to ahconnects.org.
For more than 50 years, Anderson Humane has been the leading area animal welfare organization. Today, they place more than 4,000 pets into loving homes each year. The nonprofit has programs making the healing presence of animals available to seniors, veterans, and those in crisis.
They help pet owners provide the best care possible to their dogs, cats, rabbits, turtles, and other animals through free training and resources.
Every year, Anderson Humane also cares for more than 3,000 injured and orphaned wild animals. It offers classes and programs to help people appreciate and preserve these animals and their natural habitat.
