Lisle Community Band to host free summer concert series at Community Park
The Lisle Community Band is bringing the sounds of summer to the Lisle Park District Band Shell with a series of free concerts. These performances promise to offer a delightful array of musical genres and special features for all ages.
The series kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 20, with an eclectic mix featuring the music of Hector Berlioz, Dizzy Gillespie, and Elton John. Audiences will be treated to a special performance by a Trumpet Trio and the LCB Dixieland Combo, promising an evening of both classical and jazz favorites.
On Thursday, June 27, celebrate American popular and patriotic music with a special “Armed Forces Salute” at 7:30 p.m. This concert is dedicated to honoring the brave men and women of the armed forces, making it a perfect prelude to Independence Day celebrations.
On Thursday, July 4, join the Lisle Community Band at the Lisle Heritage Society Ice Cream Social at 10:45 a.m. at the Depot Museum, 921 School St. This patriotic performance will take place right after the July Fourth parade, adding to the festive spirit of the day.
On Thursday, July 11, enjoy the timeless compositions of Holst, Mozart, and Gershwin, along with music from hit movies and cartoons, at 7:30 p.m. Vocalist Summer Kwai will make a special appearance, adding her enchanting voice to the mix.
On Thursday, July 18, the concert series concludes at 7:30 p.m. with a dynamic program featuring the music of Brahms and Rimsky-Korsakov, as well as Santana and the Rolling Stones. Trombone soloist Dan Schraub will be the special feature, showcasing his remarkable talent.
Bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy these outdoor concerts comfortably. Refreshments will be available for purchase from PoundCake Bakery. In case of rain or excessive heat, concerts will be moved to Lisle High School.
