Gary UMC in Wheaton prepares for youth mission trip

Youth and adult volunteers from Gary United Methodist Church will travel to Lake Traverse Reservation in South Dakota on Saturday, June 22, to serve with YouthWorks.

For a week, high school students and adult volunteers from the Wheaton church will learn about the Dakota people’s culture while partnering with the community to meet the needs of their residents. The mission team has been practicing skills and safety with tools as they will work on a variety of projects.

The church at 224 N. Main St. offers 9 a.m. summer Sunday worship, complete with Kids’ Church and nursery care, plus livestreaming and recorded worship at garychurch.org. At 10 a.m., you can enjoy a coffee hour called “Special Blend.” On Sept. 8, the church will resume its 10 a.m. Sunday school hour for all ages and second service.

With deep roots in the community since 1853, Gary Church has vibrant music, kids, youth and adult ministries, plus opportunities for local, national and global missions. For more information, go to garychurch.org or contact the church office at office@garychurch.org.
