Cozen O’Connor attorney Elizabeth Olivera honored with Rising Stars Award from the National Immigrant Justice Center

Elizabeth Olivera, an associate in Cozen O’Connor’s Immigration Practice, has been honored with a Rising Stars Award from the National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC). The award recognizes attorneys who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to ensuring access to justice for immigrants by devoting substantial time to NIJC pro bono work.

The award was presented to Olivera on June 4 at the NIJC’s annual Human Rights Awards luncheon in Chicago.

The NIJC selected Olivera for this award for her pro bono work on two asylum cases through Cozen O’Connor’s pro bono partnership with NIJC.

Olivera's practice focuses on employment-based immigration for institutional clients and multinational corporations from a wide variety of industries, including technology, engineering, manufacturing and utilities. She assists clients in acquiring employment-based visas for key employees so they will be authorized for employment in the U.S.

Olivera serves as the secretary of the Executive Board for the National Filipino American Lawyers Association and on the board of directors of the Filipino American Lawyers Association of Chicago. She is also a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and serves on the New Members Division committee for the Chicago Chapter.

Prior to joining Cozen O’Connor, Olivera was an extern to the Honorable Timothy A. Barnes, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of Illinois. She received her law degree from DePaul University College of Law (J.D., 2018) and her undergraduate degree from Drake University (B.S., 2015). A native of Algonquin, she is a graduate of Marian Central Catholic High School in Woodstock.
