Make a splash at Glen Ellyn Park District’s Sunset Pool
The Glen Ellyn Park District’s Sunset Pool, 483 Fairview Ave., is offering a variety of fun activities for kids and adults this summer. There has been some new updates at the pool, including a new speed slide, a children’s wading pool, direct entry option to the pool after check-in, two new family restrooms, and more. On Mondays, July 15 and Aug. 5, Sensory Swim Night offers a gentler experience for individuals with sensory sensitivities from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Perfect for those who find regular pool hours overwhelming, there will be reduced noise levels with no music, water features, or whistles (except for emergencies) and limited interruptions. This event is open to all ages. No registration is required; just pay the entry fee at the door. Admission is $3 or $4 for nonresidents.
On Wednesday, July 17, join “Santa at Sunset,” an after-hours pool party to help Santa enjoy his vacation in Glen Ellyn. Santa is making a summer stop at Sunset Pool from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Swim, eat pizza, and take pictures with the big man himself. Children must be accompanied by an adult. On Saturday, July 27, enjoy a poolside party with the whole family. The “Family Luau” will be 6 to 7:30 p.m. There will be limbo, bingo, water balloon tosses, and more. Pizza will be served at the end of the night. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required for children only. The fee is $25 or $40 for nonresidents. On Saturday, Aug. 3, kids, ages 10 to 14, can take over Sunset Pool with other middle schoolers and enjoy a night of swimming, games, and fun as you soak up the last days of summer break. The “Back to School Splash Bash” will be 7:30 to 9 p.m. Adults/caregivers must be present for check-in and checkout. Registration is required. The fee is $10 or $15 for nonresidents. On Friday, Aug. 9, kids, age 3 to 8, can unleash their inner superhero, meet their favorite characters, and refuel with pizza.
